Who is Carie Juettner?

I’m a reader. I love books. I am obsessed with books. I decorate with books. Sometimes, when I can’t sleep at night, I count books. To see what I’ve read, what I’m reading, and what I someday hope to read, connect with me on Goodreads. Or you can check out a few of my favorites here.

I’m a writer. I write poems, shorts stories, horror, middle grade novels, and lots of to-do lists. I’m the author of The Ghostly Tales of Austin and The Ghostly Tales of New England, and my work has appeared in publications such as Daily Science Fiction, Nature Futures, Ember, and Writers Weekly. You can find the full list of my published work here.

I’m a teacher. I’ve taught seventh grade English for almost twenty years. Teaching is a wonderful, stressful, hilarious, and heartbreaking job. Some days my students wow me with their brilliance and compassion. Other days I have to call the nurse because one of them stuck a paper clip in his eye. Read about the highs and lows of the job here. Or visit my Teachers Pay Teachers page.

I’m an animal lover. My husband and I have pets we adore, but we also have a lot of wildlife around our yard, so I spend a good portion of my time watching rabbits nibble the grass and baby raccoons climb the trees or listening to coyotes and screech owls serenade us. Oh, and once I saw a snake eating another snake in the backyard.

I’m a coffee drinker. I drink coffee while I read. I drink coffee while I write. I drink coffee while I grade papers. I drink coffee while I make things for my Etsy shop. I don’t drink coffee while I walk the dog or do yoga, but I often have coffee after. When in doubt, send coffee. And cookies.
